 By maggie msongole Malawi to Conduct Voter Verification from May 29 to June 1 Ahead of 2025 General Elections The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) set to begin a critical voter verification exercise from May 29 to June 1, 2025, as part of preparations for the upcoming general elections scheduled for September 16.  According to the Spokesperson for the Malawi Electoral Commission, Sangwani Mwafulirwa, the MEC has set up a USSD facility that allows citizens to verify their voter details using their mobile phones. Voters can do this by entering their voter certificate number or voter national ID number. This digital option aims to streamline the verification process and make it more accessible to a wider population. "If individuals encounter any challenges using the USSD facility or during the verification process in general, they are encouraged and advised to visit the center where they originally registered."
